Emotional Wellness
Emotional, psychological and spiritual wellness
Cancer survivors and health care professionals have identified multiple areas of social, spiritual, emotional, and psychological changes following cancer treatment. Fear of disease recurrence, uncertainty about the future, worry about the long term effects of cancer itself and its treatment related symptoms, pain and many other issues can create stress, anxiety and depression.
Cancer treatment and recovery can affect important social relationships in both the personal and professional realm.
The following section address specifics of social and emotional changes, their impact on your quality of life and resources that are available within the UCSF community, the larger community as well as online.
Please contact your health care provider for further information and appropriate referrals such as those to social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, chaplains and support groups.
