Karen Bayuk, RN, NP
Karen Bayuk graduated from the Cal State Hayward Nursing Program in 1976. She worked in Oncology at Stanford University Medical Center for five years before graduating from the UCSF Adult Nurse Practitioner program in 1981. For the next fourteen years, Karen worked as an internal medicine nurse practitioner in VA hospitals in Palo Alto, San Jose and Menlo Park. There she faced many challenges such as caring for patients with psychiatric and substance abuse problems and those affected by homelessness.
In 1995, she transferred to Kaiser Hospital in Fremont before coming back to UCSF in 1998 to once again pursue her interest in oncology. After a year in Radiation Oncology, she joined the UCSF Breast Care Center in 1999.
Karen's broad experience with people from various backgrounds enable her to communicate and care for our diverse patient population with a special sensitivity to everyone's unique situation and needs.
In her free time, Karen enjoys travelling and hiking, and at home, she likes to grow flowers in her garden and cooking and baking in her kitchen.
