EMOTIONAL & SPIRITUAL SUPPORT
Interfaith chaplains are available to meet individually with patients, or with their families and significant others. Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support to people of various faith traditions, as well as those who follow no particular tradition.
We invite you to contact a chaplain, if you:
- Are feeling scared, lonely, angry, or lost
- Want someone to talk with
- Would like spiritual support to cope with your illness or life transitions
- Would like someone to meditate or pray with you
To contact a chaplain from Spiritual Care Services, please ask your nurse or page us at: 443-CARE (443-2273). You will be prompted to enter your return phone number, and the # sign. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

PEER SUPPORT PROGRAM
Speak with someone who's "been there." The UCSF Peer Support Program connects you via telephone with a cancer survivor who has had a similar diagnosis or treatment experience. We try to match by cancer type, treatment, age, family situation, or some other aspect of your circumstance. Our trained volunteers are available to share their experiences and to provide confidential emotional, practical, and informational support to you and your support team.
You are not alone. Please call us.
If you would like to speak with a peer, please call Mimi Roth at the Cancer Resource Center at 415.885.7604. There is not charge for this service.
