Debra Marks, PhD
Clinical Psychologist

Debra Marks is a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in working with individuals who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Marks received her undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and Master’s and Doctoral Degrees from the California Graduate School of Psychology. She did her pre-doctoral and postdoctoral training at the UCSF Outpatient Department of Psychiatry and has had a placement in the UCSF Clinical Cancer Center since 1996. Dr. Marks has researched interpersonal styles of nurses in both hospital and hospice work settings to better understand the interaction that exists between patients and their nurses. She is a member of the American Psychological Society and California Psychological Association.

Dr. Marks has a particular interest in creating innovative ways to discuss sensitive end-of-life issues with patients and their loved ones in order to help facilitate a more meaningful death. In addition to her work at the Breast Care Center, Dr. Marks consults with the UCSF Gynecologic oncology practice, facilitates several cancer support groups, and maintains a private psychotherapy practice where she specializes in treating individuals and couples dealing with health related matters.

Debbie's interests include quiet time with her family, enjoying live music, entertaining her cat Madison, and vacations in Hawaii.
