Charles Dollbaum

Charles Dollbaum Jr., PhD, MD
Medical Oncologist
Assistant Professor of Medicine, UCSF

Dr. Dollbaum is a medical oncologist who specializes in breast cancer treatment and research. A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine, he was inspired to pursue breast cancer treatment while writing his doctoral thesis on model systems of breast cancer. During that time, he was exposed to the clinical side of breast cancer, and came to feel he could make a positive difference in the lives of women who have this condition.

Besides his positions at UCSF, Dr. Dollbaum is the medical director and vice president of Aeron Biotechnology, a licensed clinical laboratory in San Leandro, Calif. that measures breast prognostic markers and sex steroid hormones in saliva. He received his doctoral degree in medical microbiology and tumor cell biology from the University of California at Berkeley and his medical degree from UCLA. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1984 and joined the UCSF faculty in 1987.

In his free time, Dr. Dollbaum likes to ski, grow roses and collect wines.
